Veneers abroad: what they cost
and what to check first.
Minimal-prep porcelain veneers are from about GBP 510 a tooth at our partner clinic in Bucharest, against a UK private average near GBP 750. The bigger difference is not the price, it is what some clinics abroad sell under the word "veneer". This page shows a real case, the published numbers and the one question that protects your enamel.
Veneer, or a crown
sold as one?
A true veneer is a thin ceramic layer bonded to the front of the tooth, taking only around 0.3 to 0.5 mm of enamel. Some of the cheapest "veneer packages" abroad are actually full crowns, which means grinding healthy teeth down to pegs. The price looks similar on the advert; the teeth underneath are not.
What a real veneer takes
Around 0.3 to 0.5 mm of enamel, removed only where the design needs it. Your teeth stay structurally themselves, which is why minimal-prep work can often be revisited decades later without drama.
What the crown trick takes
A crown removes the bulk of the visible tooth on every side. Sold honestly, crowns are the right treatment for broken or heavily filled teeth. Sold as "veneers" on healthy teeth, they trade your enamel for a faster lab job.
The question to ask any clinic
"How much of my tooth will you remove, in millimetres?" A clinic doing true minimal-prep veneers answers with a number and shows you a mock-up first. Evasion on that question is the cheapest red flag in dentistry.
The material on the label
Our partner clinic layers IPS e.max lithium disilicate, shade-matched to your neighbouring teeth and finished by its own laboratory. It is the same premium ceramic a good UK cosmetic practice specifies.

Two honest routes to a better front tooth, priced per tooth. Porcelain is the longer-lasting, shade-stable option; direct composite is the budget route the clinic also publishes, built up by hand in one visit.

How much do veneers cost abroad?+
At our partner clinic in Bucharest, layered IPS e.max porcelain veneers are from about GBP 510 a tooth against a UK private average near GBP 750, and direct composite veneers from about GBP 130. Veneers are priced per tooth, so the honest comparison is your written plan with the exact count, not a package headline.
Are the cheap "veneers" advertised abroad really veneers?+
Sometimes not. A true veneer takes around 0.3 to 0.5 mm of enamel; some packages sold as veneers are full crowns, which remove most of the visible tooth. Ask any clinic how many millimetres of your tooth it will remove and whether you see a mock-up first. Our partner clinic does minimal-prep e.max work and shows you the design before preparation.
How long do porcelain veneers last?+
The clinic's crownwork and veneer guarantee runs 5 to 10 years depending on the work, stated in your written plan, and well-maintained e.max commonly outlives its guarantee. Longevity depends on your bite, hygiene and habits such as nail-biting or grinding, and your dentist will be honest about your own outlook at assessment.
How many trips do veneers take?+
One trip of a few days, structured as three appointments: diagnosis with a 3D scan, then the mock-up and minimal preparation, then bonding. You approve the design at the mock-up stage before any preparation starts, and you fly home with the finished teeth and your guarantee in writing.
